Pena Palace

Local Area

All in one, all year round

Estoril Golf Coast covers an area of about 20 by 40 km, stretching from the coastline near the estuary of the River Tagus inland towards the town of Ericeira.

Lisbon being today a thriving city with a buoyant economy and a rich cultural life - a mere 20 minutes drive or 30 minutes by train from Estoril (along the coast line) or Sintra - adds another dimension to any visit to the region.

Everybody´s Dream

Nowhere else in the world can such dramatic changes of scenery and such contrasting atmospheres be experienced within so small an area. The region offers a wide variety of different environments, all within a half hour's drive.

The south coast of Estoril has first class leisure facilities, sunny terraces and pedestrian precincts where the shopping is excellent. This is the perfect place for the social highlife, where people can enjoy seeing and being seen.

In the Sintra hills, the Moorish Castle and Pena Palace are well worth a visit, while within the town of Sintra itself, the National Palace, the Manor of Regaleira, the Hotel-Palace of Seteais, Monserrate Palace and the Sintra Modern Art Museum are all fascinating. Cascais has several interesting places to visit, notably the Condes de Castro Guimarães Museum and the Museum of the Sea, as well as numerous churches, forts and fortresses. Between Sintra and Lisbon lies Queluz Palace, a replica of Versailles.

The Estoril Autodrome, the venue of many classical Grand Prix events, is a Mecca for motor-racing enthusiasts. All along the coast, there is an abundance of water sports facilities, including swimming, fishing, surfing, windsurfing, speed boating and water-skiing.
For sailors, there is a wide range of state of the art facilities at the new Cascais Marina.

With the obvious exception of winter sports, the Estoril Golf Coast has the ideal natural environment and the perfect climate for almost any sport to be played all year round.

The top class facilities are suitable for both the amateur and the professional. Options range from the so-called extreme sports such as parachuting, paragliding, rock climbing and mountain biking to more traditional sports such as horse riding, tennis and...

...of course GOLF.
