Hole Guide

1
Hole 1 Par 5, Stroke 4
A long sweeping dogleg to the right demands a drive down the right side of the Fairway. The second shot should be played with a fairway wood or long iron, leaving a testing approach to a well-protected green.
2
Hole 2 Par 4, Stroke 12.
Try to drive as far down this wide fairway as possible so as to leave a short approach. If the flag is placed on the left side of the green, play for the middle as the green slopes quickly away into a valley.
3
Hole 3 Par 3, Stroke 18.
The easiest hole on the course. A short iron approach should guarantee 2 putts for a par.
4
Hole 4 Par 4, Stroke 10.
The fairway doglegs to the right with “Out of bounds” down the same side. Drive short of the fairway bunker then take care with your club selection, as there is a severe slope in the middle of the well-guarded green.
5
Hole 5 Par 4, Stroke 16.
A short par 4 where the long hitter will gamble and try to reach the green in one. However many have ruined their card on this hole which is tighter than it appears.
6
Hole 6 Par 4, Stroke 8.
An excellent par 4. The drive should be played down the left side of the fairway, and then care should be taken with your approach as both a lake to the right and a bunker to the left protect the green.
7
Hole 7 Par 5, Stroke 2.
Make the carry over the lake and then the second should be played down the left side of the fairway and short of the steam that crosses the fairway 100 meters from the green. The green is well protected on both left and right by bunkers.
8
Hole 8 Par 3, Stroke 14.
A difficult par 3 with the fairway climbing uphill to a green well guarded by deep bunkers. Club selection is made more difficult by the backdrop of the distant Mountains of Sintra.
9
Hole 9 Par 4, Stroke 6.
A great par 4 with the challenge being provided by the “Out of bounds” on the right and the lake in the angle of the fairway as it doglegs to the left. Club selection on the approach shot is crucial because of the well-guarded elevated green that slopes severely from front to back and the influence of the prevailing wind.
10
Hole 10 Par 5. Stroke 1.
This testing par 5 plays into the prevailing wind. Drive between the bunker and the well and then choose a long iron or wood targeted at the left side of the fairway setting up a short iron approach to the green.
11
Hole 11 Par 4. Stroke 13.
A drive down the middle of the fairway to leave a short or medium iron to the raised green. The green slopes sharply from back to front so it is essential to be short of the hole with your second shot.
12
Hole 12 Par 3, Stroke 17.
A medium iron should find this large green protected by a bunker on the left and “Out of Bounds” on the right. The pin position will dictate which iron to play.
13
Hole 13 Par 4, Stroke 9.
The drive should be threaded between the 2 fairway bunkers and then play a medium iron to the large, undulating green. “Out of Bounds” encroaches from all sides to catch the wayward shot.
14
Hole 14 Par 3, Stroke 15
A fine Par 3 played from an elevated Tee to an elevated green. If the flag is on the front of the green you must leave yourself an uphill putt.
15
Hole 15 Par 5, Stroke 5.
Your drive should avoid the lake on the right side of the fairway. The second shot should be played with a fairway wood or long iron to the top of the brow leaving a short iron to a small green.
16
Hole 16 Par 5, Stroke 13.
Open your shoulders a let one rip down this wide fairway. The longer hitters will be able to get close to this short Par 5. The lake on the left side of the fairway will only catch the truly errant shot!
17
Hole 17 Par 4, Stroke 3
The fairway is flanked on the left by a lake and on the right by “Out of Bounds”. The Tee shot should be played with a Fairway Wood or long iron. The second shot must carry the lake to the large sloping green.
18
Hole 18 Par 4, Stroke 7.
Drive short of the fairway bunker setting up a long or medium iron uphill to the well-protected green. A hole to be treated with great respect.
